This is a tribe for discussing the novel and soon to be released film version of the novel, A Scanner Darkly. The novel was written by Philip K. Dick and was published in the late 1970's. It's a story about a group of drug addicts, one in particular, Bob Arctor, who's also a NARC. In this case, Arctor is put on assignment to NARC on himself! Very Dickean! And when you toss in scrambler suits, you get an extremely paranoid world where you can trust absolutely nobody! This is a very dark, sad commentary on how society treats illegal drug users who are punished for the sole reason that they are having too much fun!
Anyways, Richard Linklater has finished directing the film version of Dick's novel and the film is currently in post-production and will be released in Spring of 2006. You can already see a clip of the film version here: playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll
